ARTIST STATEMENT:

Painting intuitively, I wish to express my connection to and feelings for the natural environment by creating abstracted and evocative interpretations of imagined landscapes.
I start with expressive mark-making, then apply layers of thick paint which may be scraped, scratched and sanded back to reveal previous layers. I will continue to build up and subtract until I feel the work is complete. Sometimes I will incorporate mixed media techniques into my paintings to craft interesting textures that animate the canvas surface. My work is held in national and international collections.
